Help & FAQ

Logging your workouts

What exercises can I track?

Six bodyweight exercises out of the box: push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges, burpees, and planks. You can also add your own with Kountrain Premium.

Can I add my own exercises?

Yes, with Kountrain Premium. Add as many custom exercises as you like, each with its own name, color, icon, and unit, reps or seconds, and each one earns its own achievements as you train. It's the one paid feature in Kountrain; everything else is free.

Does Kountrain count my reps automatically?

No. You enter your reps yourself after each set. There is no sensor and no phone placement to worry about, which keeps your count simple and accurate.

How do I log a set?

Tap the exercise, set your reps on the scroll wheel, and tap Save. No timer to start, no setup. Kountrain starts each exercise at your last entry, so the next one is faster.

How does the timer work?

Any seconds-based exercise has a stopwatch, the built-in plank and any time-based exercise you add with Premium. Tap Start, then Done when you're finished, and it logs the time, or enter the seconds by hand if you timed it elsewhere. The timer caps at one hour, so a forgotten timer can't distort your stats.

Progress and goals

How do streaks work?

Log at least one workout on consecutive calendar days and your streak grows. Miss a day and it resets to zero. Kountrain tracks both your current streak and your longest one.

How are calories estimated?

Kountrain estimates calories from MET values for each exercise, adjusted for your weight and sex. Add those in Settings, under Your Body, for a closer estimate; without a weight it assumes 70kg. These are estimates, not medical measurements.

What can I see about my progress?

The stats screen shows your totals and calories as charts over recent days, weeks, and months, broken down by exercise, alongside your current and longest streak. There are also achievements to unlock, from streak milestones to lifetime reps and doing all your exercises in one day, and any custom exercises you add bring their own.

How do daily goals work?

Set a Daily Rep Goal in Settings and the home screen tracks your progress toward it. The goal counts your reps across all exercises, plank seconds included, and you feel a haptic tap the moment you hit it.

Can I set workout reminders?

Yes. Turn on Reminders in Settings and pick a time. They only arrive on days you haven't trained yet, so they nudge you without nagging.

Getting and using Kountrain

Is Kountrain free?

Yes. Logging, the six built-in exercises, goals, streaks, stats, achievements, and CSV export cost nothing, with no ads and no subscription. The one paid thing is Kountrain Premium, a one-time unlock that lets you add your own custom exercises. Paid once, yours forever. If the six built-ins are all you need, you never pay.

What devices is Kountrain available on?

iPhone, iPad, and Android, free on all of them, with no account needed.

Does Kountrain work offline?

Yes. Kountrain works fully offline, with no connection and no account needed. Everything you log is saved on your device.

Your data

Where is my workout data stored, and does it stay private?

On your device. Your workout history isn't synced or backed up anywhere, so uninstalling Kountrain removes it, export a CSV to keep a copy. To improve the app, Kountrain sends anonymous usage analytics and crash reports, tied to a random id with nothing that identifies you.

How do I export my workouts?

Go to Settings and tap Export as CSV. You get a file with every workout, its date, time, exercise, the value and unit (reps or seconds), and calories, which you can save or share anywhere. Export is free.
