Help & FAQ
How do I sort a YouTube playlist?
Click the Cleangarden icon to open the side panel, sign in with Google, pick one of your playlists, and choose how to sort it. Sorting changes the order you see and play the videos in; it doesn't rearrange the playlist on YouTube itself.
Is Cleangarden free?
Yes, completely free. There are no ads, no premium tier, and nothing to pay for.
Which browsers can I use Cleangarden in?
Cleangarden is a desktop browser extension, not a mobile app. Install it from the Chrome Web Store; it runs in Chrome and other Chromium browsers like Edge, Brave, and Opera.
What sort options are there?
Five orders: Default (your playlist's original order), Popularity (most or least viewed), Duration (longest or shortest), Title (A to Z or Z to A), and Date (newest or oldest). Pick a type, then flip between its two directions.
Where is the Cleangarden icon, and how do I open the panel?
Click the Cleangarden icon in your browser toolbar and the panel opens on the right, staying with you as you browse. If you don't see the icon, click the puzzle-piece (extensions) button in the toolbar and pin Cleangarden.
Why do I need to sign in with Google?
So Cleangarden can read your playlists through YouTube's official API. You sign in with Google, there is no separate Cleangarden account, and Cleangarden only reads your playlists, never changes them. You can revoke access anytime at your Google account's permissions page.
How do I play a video from the panel?
Click any video in the panel. If you're already on YouTube it plays in your current tab, otherwise it opens a new one, and the next videos (up to ten) are queued so they keep playing in your sorted order.
Does it work with Watch Later or other saved playlists?
No. YouTube's API doesn't provide access to Watch Later or other built-in lists, so Cleangarden works with the playlists you created yourself.
Does it work on YouTube Music?
No. Cleangarden works on youtube.com only. YouTube Music runs on a separate system that isn't supported.
What data does Cleangarden collect?
Just your Google email and account ID, used to sign you in. Your playlists and videos are fetched live from YouTube each time and are never stored on our servers.
How do I delete my account or revoke access?
Open the extension, click your profile picture, choose Delete account, and confirm. We remove your email and keep only a de-identified sign-in marker. To also cut Cleangarden's access to your YouTube data, revoke it at your Google account's permissions page.
I can't sign in. What can I try?
First make sure your browser is up to date. If signing in still fails, remove Cleangarden and reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store, then try again.
My playlists aren't loading. What can I try?
Check your internet connection and tap Retry. A large playlist can take a few seconds to load. If it keeps failing, sign out and sign back in.
