Getting started
How do I sort a YouTube playlist?
Click the Cleangarden icon in Chrome to open the side panel. Sign in with Google, select a playlist from the dropdown, and tap any sort option: popularity, duration, date, or title. Each option toggles between ascending and descending.
Where is the side panel?
Click the Cleangarden icon in your Chrome toolbar. The panel opens on the right side of your browser and stays open while you browse YouTube. If you don't see the icon, click the puzzle piece in Chrome's toolbar and pin Cleangarden.
Why do I need to sign in with Google?
Cleangarden uses Google sign-in to access your YouTube playlists through the YouTube Data API. No separate Cleangarden account is needed. You can revoke access anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Sorting
What sort options are available?
Four: popularity (most or least viewed), duration (longest or shortest), date (newest or oldest), and title (A-Z or Z-A). You can also return to YouTube's default order.
Can I sort by date?
Yes. Tap "Date" in the sort bar and choose Newest or Oldest. This sorts videos by their original publish date on YouTube.
Does it work with Watch Later?
Yes. Cleangarden works with any YouTube playlist on your account.
Does it work on YouTube Music?
No. Cleangarden only works on youtube.com. YouTube Music uses a different system and is not supported.
Playback
How do I play a video?
Click any video in the side panel. If you're on YouTube, it navigates your current tab. Otherwise, it opens a new tab. Up to 10 videos are queued so they play in your sorted order.
Account and data
Is Cleangarden free?
Yes. Cleangarden is completely free. No ads, no tracking, no premium tier.
What data does Cleangarden collect?
Your Google email and account ID for authentication. Your playlist data is fetched on demand and never stored on our servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my account?
Open the extension, click your profile picture, then Account, then Delete account. Your email and data are removed from our servers immediately. You can also revoke Google access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
How do I send feedback?
Open the extension, click your profile picture, then Send feedback. You can type a message and attach a screenshot. We read everything.
Troubleshooting
The login button is not working
Make sure you're using the latest version of Chrome. Try removing and reinstalling the extension from the Chrome Web Store. If the issue persists, email us at hello@paintingstack.com.
My playlists are not loading
Check your internet connection and try the Retry button. If your playlist has many videos, it may take a few seconds. If it keeps failing, sign out and sign in again.
I see "Something went wrong"
This is a temporary error. Try again in a few seconds. If it persists, reinstall the extension or email us with a screenshot.
