Help & FAQ
Building your grid
How do I turn a photo into a grid?
On the Projects screen, tap + and choose Camera or Gallery. Each photo becomes its own project and opens in the Grids editor, where you set the grid and transfer the image to your canvas square by square.
How do I change the number of grid lines, or how thick they are?
Open a project and scroll just below the image in the Grids editor. Under Grid size you'll find Columns and Rows: drag a slider or type a number from 1 to 40. Line weight, just below, sets how thick the lines are. If the image is filling the whole screen, you're in fullscreen, tap the X in the corner to bring the controls back.
How do I set the grid in centimeters or inches?
Open a project and scroll to Grid size, the same place as Columns and Rows. Switch from Manual to Canvas size, set Units to cm or in, then enter your canvas Width and the Square size you want. Overgrid uses your photo's proportions to work out the height and lay out the rows and columns to match your real canvas. Canvas size is a Premium feature; the Manual grid set by rows and columns is free.
How do I show the numbers on the grid?
In the Grids editor, turn on Numbering. Each square is then labeled, so it's easy to match a square on the photo to the same square on your canvas.
How do I hide or remove the grid?
Set both Columns and Rows to 1 in Grid size, which clears all the lines. To keep the grid but make it subtle instead, lower the Opacity slider.
Getting and using Overgrid
Is Overgrid free, and is it a subscription?
Yes, free to start, and there is no subscription. Premium is a one-time purchase, shown in the app in your local currency. The free version turns any photo into a grid: set the rows and columns, adjust line weight, opacity, numbering, and diagonals, pick from six grid colors, and save or share your work, with up to 3 projects. Premium adds custom grid colors and adaptive contrast, value and temperature studies, canvas-size grids that match your real surface, saved grid templates, unlimited projects, and full-resolution export.
What devices can I use Overgrid on?
iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android. Premium is a one-time purchase that unlocks on every device signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account.
How do I restore my purchase?
On a new device or after reinstalling, open Settings and tap Restore purchase, signed in to the App Store or Google Play account that bought Premium. Premium is yours for life on every device tied to that account.
Does Overgrid need an internet connection?
No. Overgrid works fully offline, with no account. You can build, adjust, and save grids with no connection at all.
Exporting and your projects
How do I save or share my grid?
Open a project and tap Save to keep it to your photos, or Share to send it elsewhere, as a JPEG. The free version goes up to 1024px on the longest side; Premium exports at full resolution, up to 4096px.
How do I delete a project?
On the Projects screen, tap the three dots on the project and choose Delete. If you tap it by accident, an Undo button appears right after, so nothing is lost.
Your privacy
Where are my projects saved, and do they stay on my device?
On your device only. There's no account, and your projects and your reference photos stay with you: they are never uploaded and never sent to a server. The only thing that ever leaves your device is a small, anonymous diagnostic report, the kind that flags a crash or notes which features get used, so we can fix what breaks. It carries no images and nothing that identifies you. Because everything lives on your device, uninstalling Overgrid removes your projects, so save or share anything you want to keep.
