Help & FAQ
Does Overgrid need an internet connection?
No. Overgrid works fully offline. You can build, adjust, and export grids with no connection and no account.
What devices is Overgrid available on?
iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android. The same purchase unlocks Premium on every device linked to your App Store or Google Play account.
Is Overgrid free, and what does Premium add?
Yes, free to start. You can turn any photo into a grid, set the rows and columns, adjust line weight, opacity, numbering, and diagonals, pick from six grid colors, and export, with up to 3 projects. Premium adds custom grid colors and adaptive contrast, value and temperature studies, canvas-size grids that match your real surface, saved grid templates, unlimited projects, and full-resolution export.
Is Overgrid a subscription?
No. Premium is a single one-time purchase, yours for life, with no subscription and no recurring charge. The price is shown in the app in your local currency.
How do I turn a photo into a grid?
On the Projects screen, tap the + button and choose Camera or Gallery. Each photo becomes its own project and opens in the Grids editor, where you set the grid and transfer the image to your canvas square by square.
How do I change the number of grid lines or how thick they are?
Open a project, then scroll just below the image in the Grids editor. Under Grid size you'll find Columns and Rows: drag a slider or type a number from 1 to 40. Line weight, just below, sets how thick the lines are. If you only see the image filling the screen, you're in fullscreen, tap the X in the top corner to bring the controls back underneath it.
How do I set the grid in centimeters or inches?
Open a project and scroll just below the image to Grid size, the same place as Columns and Rows. Switch from Manual to Canvas size, set Units to cm or in, then enter your canvas Width and the Square size you want. Overgrid uses your photo's proportions to work out the height and lay out the rows and columns to match, so the grid fits your real canvas. Canvas size is a Premium feature; the Manual grid set by rows and columns is free.
How do I show the numbers on the grid?
In the Grids editor, turn on Numbering. Each square is then labeled, so it's easy to match a square on the photo to the same square on your canvas.
How do I hide or remove the grid?
Open the project and set both Columns and Rows to 1 in Grid size, which clears all the lines. To keep the grid but make it subtle instead, lower the Opacity slider.
How do I export my grid?
Open a project and tap Export to save or share it as a JPEG. The free version exports up to 1024px on the longest side, and Premium exports at full resolution up to 4096px.
How do I delete a project?
On the Projects screen, tap the three dots on the project you want to remove and choose Delete. If you tap it by accident, an Undo button appears right after, so nothing is lost.
Where are my projects saved, and are they backed up?
On your device only. There is no account and no cloud, so they are not backed up automatically, and uninstalling Overgrid removes them. To keep a copy, export the ones you want.
Are my reference photos sent to a server?
No. Everything happens on your device and your photos never leave your phone. We collect anonymous usage stats to improve the app, never your images, and a screenshot is only ever sent if you attach one to feedback yourself.
How do I restore my purchase?
On a new device or after reinstalling, open Settings and tap Restore purchase, signed in to the App Store or Google Play account that bought Premium. Premium is yours for life on every device tied to that account.
